What happens after graduation?
You’ve completed your degree in Germany or Austria. So, what happens next?
For some graduates, it’s the start of a career in Europe.
Others continue with a Master’s degree.
Some return to Malaysia or explore opportunities elsewhere.
Your graduation is a new starting point
Start your career in Europe
We recommend that you start your professional experience in Germany or Austria.
Continue your studies
Quite a number of our alumni choose to continue their studies, especially since tuition fees in Germany and Austria are still low or even free for postgraduate studies.
Explore opportunities beyond Europe
While less common, some graduates go on to build their careers in other countries.
Having already moved abroad to study, they have the experience and confidence to take that step again. So can you.
Return to Malaysia
Bring home an international qualification, overseas experience and a new perspective.
How can I stay and work in Germany or Austria?
Graduates from Germany can stay for up to 18 months to look for a job, while graduates from Austria can stay for up to 12 months.
However, getting a job in Germany or Austria can be competitive. You’ll need something that helps you stand out from other applicants.
Having said that, one of our partner universities in Austria has a 99% graduate employment rate. That shows that the right university, course, and industry connections can make a difference.
Your preparation should begin while you’re still studying
Experience
Internships, practical training, relevant work experience, and competitions can help you better understand your industry while building a stronger CV.
One tip. Try to find part-time work related to your field of study. It can give you valuable experience and better prepare you for your future career.
Language skills
Depending on your career goals, German can open up more opportunities beyond the international and English-speaking job market.
Connections
University, internships, classmates, lecturers and professional networks can all become part of your future career journey.
German Educare has a network of Malaysian graduates across Germany. When you join us, you become part of that network too.
Start with the next step
You don’t need to know exactly where you’ll be ten years from now.
Right now, one important question is:
Which pathway could take you there?
