Why combine A Level with German?

If your goal is to study in Germany or Austria, you need more than just your pre-university qualification.

You also need to prepare for the language, application process and transition to university life in Germany or Austria.

That’s why the A Level German Pathway combines the following.

A Level

Complete your A Level at MCKL in Kuala Lumpur or Penang. Have the right subject combination and result to meet the university requirement.

German language

Learn German alongside A Level so that you can save time. It’s one semester shorter compared to only starting your German language classes after completing your A Level.

University preparation

After A Level, continue up to 9 months under the University Preparation Programme. The exact duration depends on the language requirement of the course you want to study.

Application and support in Germany and Austria

Receive guidance with university applications and visa procedures, airport pickup, assigned mentor and more.

Complete your secondary school education with a minimum of 5 credits

A Level German Pathway

(18 months)

Complete your A Level at Methodist College while learning German at the same time. Available in Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

University Preparation Programme

(up to 9 months)

Continue directly to the University Preparation Programme after completing your A Level.

The first 3 months will be in Petaling Jaya, Selangor while the following 6 months will be in Aachen, Germany.

Bachelor's degree in Germany or Austria

(3 – 3.5 years)

Further study or work in Germany

After completing your Bachelor’s degree, you can explore further study or career opportunities in Germany or Austria.

German university graduates can extend their stay for up to 18 months while Austrian university graduates can stay up to 12 months to search for a job.

Other qualifications which are recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

Notes

Credit in respective science subjects is required for Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Credit in Additional Mathematics is required for Mathematics and Computer Science.

Intakes are in January and August. Registration is generally first-come-first-served, and there may be subject quotas, so students are encouraged to apply early.

German universities require A Level students to take 3 subjects. Students are therefore advised to focus on 3 A Level subjects while also spending time learning German.
