Requirements to study in Austria for international students

International students need to meet specific academic and language requirements to apply for university in Austria. You will need a recognised pre-university qualification like A Level to study your Bachelor’s degree, and a relevant Bachelor’s degree to study your Master’s degree.

If you have just completed your SPM or IGCSE, our Study in Austria Preparation Programme will open the door for you to study in Austria without having to do the A Level.

For English-taught programmes, proof of English proficiency (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL) is required. You’ll also need to be pass the German A2 exam.

If you’re applying for a German-language programme, a good command of German (B2 level) is needed.

There are also courses which start in English at the lower semesters and transition to be fully taught in German at the higher semesters. For those courses, you will need German A2 to apply.

Additionally, students must demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves during their studies and apply for a student visa or residence permit. To study in Austria, you’ll not need to open a Blocked account. Our team will explain more during your consultation.
