Shopping in Germany as a student

TL;DR: As a student, you may not be able to indulge in shopping as often as you would like. Once in a while, there will be discounts, making shopping trips extra affordable. Some of the tips for getting a good deal are buying winter clothings off season and checking out the kids section for clothings that are not only cheaper, but might even fit you better!

Buying clothes or items you don’t necessarily need is a guilty pleasure for many. As a student, you may not be able to indulge as often as you might like. Whether it be groceries or fashion, we tend to look for bargains and deals

Supermarkets like Aldi, Lidl and Netto provide many grocery options at cheap prices. Once in a while, there will be discounts, making your shopping trips extra affordable. For fancier ingredients, one would be recommended to visit Edeka or Rewe, as some products are often pricier and may be of higher quality.

Also, remember to check if there are student discounts available.

Winter clothing is especially expensive, so buying them after winter, when spring is coming up is a good way to snag them at great deals. There’s no shame in getting clothes from the kids section, as they serve as a cheaper alternative for petite women and might also fit better than their adult sizes. To name some budget and inexpensive clothing stores, there are C&A, Primark and KIK. Some clothing items are sold for as low as 2 Euros.
