What if you could gain international experience as a hospitality professional, earn an international certificate – and expand your earning potential as a chef, restauranteur, or hotel manager?

Introducing the German Dual Vocational Training Programme

The Dual Vocational Training (DVT) programme provides in-company training at work for Malaysian school leavers.

  • Learn on-the-job in the hospitality industry
  • No tuition fees
  • Graduate high-in-demand in the EU, including Austria and Switzerland
  • Get a monthly allowance of up to €1150 (RM5,780), covering living expenses

And yes, you’ll get international experience – increasing your earning potential as a professional in the hospitality industry (chef, restuaranteur, events, and hotel manager), anywhere you wish to work later on.

Why can't I just study in Malaysia?

Let’s look at the typical investment to complete a culinary course in Malaysia.

A Diploma in culinary arts study goes all the way up to RM50,000.

Programme Estimated fee per year
Part-time/Full-time certification < RM 15,000
Diploma RM 19,000 - RM 56,000
Bachelor's Degree RM 45,000 - RM 100,000

What happens after getting your diploma?

You search for jobs and find offers with salaries of around RM2,681. Hmm, that’s going to take at least 2 years to get a return on investment (ROI) on what you’ve invested.

From here, there are two options:

  • Work many years, hopefully climbing the ranks and growing your salary.
  • Go back to study, spending more to get a degree.

Or what if…

Maybe I'll just open my own restaurant!

Then I’ll be the boss. And make my own salary!

Sounds like a great idea until you learn that 60% of restaurants fail within the first year.

Why? Because opening a restaurant comes with its own set of challenges. When you start a restaurant, you move from being a culinary professional to becoming a business owner. From business positioning, creating differentiation, to marketing – setting up a restaurant demands a different set of skills.

Skills that are best learned through apprenticeship.

Is there another way?

What if there’s a way to quickly grow your earning potential, gain international recognition, and even earn a monthly allowance while you study?

Dual Vocational Training for Culinary Arts, Events Management, and Hotel Management

The Dual Vocational Training programme in Germany is the answer for just that – more salary and more recognition!

It is tuition-free, and you get an allowance to cover your living expenses. (Doesn’t that sound like a scholarship?)

Interested? Since the programme is offered in Germany, how can you as a Malaysian join?

Introducing the DVT Preparation Programme

The DVT Preparation Programme is an intensive preparation programme to help Malaysian students qualify for the Dual Vocational Training in Germany.

It is a 9-month preparation programme where you will learn to be fluent enough in German so that you can converse with your classmates, trainers, and other people in Germany.

In addition, we will prepare you for your application and interview(s) with the vocational school as well as your future employer (who will be paying your allowance and where you will be attached to for your training).

You will need to choose the profession you want to be trained for – to be a chef, a restaurant and events manager or a hotel manager.

Hear from trainees

The German Educare team visited the vocational school where the training will be held to check the facilities, and to interview their students. We spoke to a few of them and two of them have some tips for Malaysian students.

interview yahya

Yahya from Morocco came to Germany alone and initially found it challenging to adapt to the culture and the German language. However, he made friends and has adapted well. (Tip 1 is to make some friends)

interview thao

Thao from Vietnam has another tip. You must be highly motivated to learn the language and have a passion for learning new culture.
