Yes, really.
Germany offers world-class degrees at public universities, and guess what? They don’t charge tuition—even for international students.
Imagine your child graduating from a top university, with real work experience… and no student debt.
A parent we spoke with recently mentioned that she’d heard great things about the quality of education at German universities. She was curious how international students are able to study there without paying tuition fees and shared her concerns with us.
When my son said, “I want to study in Germany,” we were worried.
“How far is it? Can we afford it? Will he be safe?”
“Will he miss home?”
“Can he even speak German?”
If you’re asking yourself the same questions—you’re not alone. Many other parents did too.
But here’s what you need to know.
Germany consistently ranks as one of the safest countries in the world. From reliable public services to low crime rates, Germany offers peace of mind—for you and your child.
Over 400,000 international students are currently studying in Germany. The German Educare student community has been growing as well, and it’s likely that your child won’t feel alone and will have someone to help him or her settle down.
Most public universities are free for everyone—even for students from Malaysia.
Yes—really free.
All you pay is a small semester fee of about €150–€350, which often covers public transport too.
Let’s take a look at the cost of studying a Bachelor of Engineering at a private university in Selangor. Malaysian students can pay over RM50,000 a year in tuition fees. Add another RM12,000 for living expenses, and you’re looking at RM62,000 a year!
That’s roughly the same or even more as what you’d spend just on living expenses in Germany.
Studying in Germany isn’t nearly as expensive as studying in Australia, the UK, or the US. In fact, the overall cost can be quite similar to studying right here in Malaysia.
Yes—and learning it before going makes all the difference.
While many universities in Germany offer English-taught programmes, daily life—from grocery shopping to doctor visits—is in German.
And even if your child studies in English, knowing German helps them feel more confident, independent, and connected.
Based on our experience, students who learn German before they go settle in faster, make friends more easily, and feel at home much sooner.
That’s why our programme includes intensive German lessons here in Malaysia, before they leave. By the time they arrive, they can handle conversations, navigate daily life, and start building real relationships.
And long-term? German opens doors—to internships, part-time jobs, and career opportunities across Europe.
Think of it as more than just a language. It’s a passport to their future.
We know how big this step feels. That’s why we guide both parents and students—every step of the way.
From choosing the right course to learning German, applying to universities, and settling in—we’re here.
Think of us as their extended family abroad.
Whether you’re a student or a parent, we’d love to hear your questions and help you explore your options.
Is Germany really tuition-free?
